Diane Dixon - WIFS 2008 Woman of the Year

2007 WOY, Susan Sweetser JD, CFP®, CLU, ChFC proudly announced the recipient of the 2008 WIFS Woman of the Year award during the WIFS National Conference in Chicago.

The Woman of the Year award (WOY) is the highest level of recognition a WIFS member may receive from her peers recognizing an individual who has given above and beyond, both to WIFS and the overall industry. The award is given to one who has made a significant difference with the organization and the industry.

Diane is truly passionate about women in the insurance and financial services industry—and believes in supporting and fostering a community for them. Diane not only “talks the talk,” but she most definitely “walks the walk.”

Diane’s career began as an agent for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. She qualified for numerous company and industry awards. After a successful career as a Financial Representative, Diane joined the corporate office of NML where she championed the inception of the company’s focus for attracting, recruiting and developing women as Financial Representatives. Diane led the initiative for several years. Diane also ran women’s study groups, launched a successful coaching program for women, and developed prospecting and recruiting tools targeted at recruiting women to the company.  The net growth of women tripled under Diane’s leadership.

Diane has served WIFS for many years including serving as National President in 2004-05. Because of Diane’s vision and desire to bring value to its members, WIFS now has an impressive array of professional programs. She also aggressively pursued corporate sponsorship; developing and nurturing relationships with the major players in the industry. Diane helped position WIFS as a power player in the insurance and financial services industry by partnering with Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and General Agents & Management Association (GAMA). She studied their models for growth and used those strategies to bolster WIFS membership. WIFS membership has grown over 164% in the past four years.

Accomplished author of Magnificent Masters in Financial Services is another way Dixon dedicated her expertise to helping women.
